Have you ever watched the film WALL-E? Where the cute little robot spends his days cleaning up garbage left behind by humans, sorting and recycling waste to prevent environmental harm, and repurposing waste in his own living space. All which is made entirely from recycled materials.

Unfortunately, we don’t have little WALL-E’s to help us manage waste effectively, but we do have WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2019), which share similar themes as WALL-E, just not in a cute robot form.

In this blog, we’ll discuss why the UK’s WEEE laws and regulations exist, what they are, and most importantly, why their functions are important.

 

Guide to Electronic Waste Management | What is WEEE?

The UK’s WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations) laws were first introduced in 2006 and were further developed in 2013, replacing the 2006 rules. And were most recently in 2019. The new regulations were influenced by the main points of the EU Directive—legislation which the UK was no longer required to follow, after Brexit. The most significant change in the latest update was the expansion of products to include all electrical and electronic equipment (EEE).

 

Why is WEEE Important?

WEEE regulations are crucial for several reasons:

• Environmental Protection: They ensure that electronic waste is collected, treated, and recycled in an environmentally sound manner, reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills and minimizing environmental pollution.
• Resource Conservation: By recycling electronic waste, valuable materials such as metals and plastics can be recovered and reused, conserving natural resources.
• Public Health: Proper disposal of electronic waste prevents harmful substances, such as lead and mercury, from contaminating the environment and posing health risks to humans and wildlife.

 

What Does It Mean for Me?

Depending on who you are, WEEE legislation provides different objectives:

  • Consumers: You’re encouraged to return e-waste to dedicated collection points or take advantage of retailer takeback schemes to ensure proper recycling and disposal. But there is no obligation for consumers.
  • Distributors of EEE (Import, Rebrand) : If you sell electrical and electronic equipment, you are required to provide information to customers about how they can dispose of their old equipment responsibly. You may also need to offer take-back services for old equipment.
  • There are a few other requirements related to documentation and registration of e-waste which should be carefully reviewed by distributors.
  • Producers/ Manufacturers of EEE: If you manufacture or import electrical items, you must register with a compliance scheme, finance the collection, treatment, and recycling of WEEE, and ensure your products are marked with the appropriate symbols, all products must be marked with the ‘crossed-out wheeled bin’ symbol to indicate they cannot be disposed of with regular waste.
  • Producers are also required to provide information about the reprocessing of a products material and components, this information should be made available within one year of making the product available for sale.

 

 

Our Commitment

Unfortunately, not everyone follows appropriate e-waste disposal practices. Despite the ever-growing volume of e-waste, only 20% is disposed of properly. With increasing pressure to reduce global warming and pollution, it is crucial that proper e-waste disposal is acknowledged and appreciated by everyone.
Proper e-waste disposal not only benefits the environment but also offers significant economic incentives. The raw materials in the e-waste stream are valued at around £45 million annually, yet only about £8 million worth are recovered due to low recycling rates. This means we are missing out on substantial economic value. Additionally, recycling one million laptops could save enough energy to power over 3,500 homes for a year, which really puts things into perspective.
Recycling e-waste is far more than just regenerating it into something else; the benefits are substantial and far-reaching.

Maintaining floors in commercial spaces or public buildings like schools, hospitals, and offices can be challenging due to the volume of foot traffic. For cleaning and facilities teams, it often feels like a never-ending cycle of cleaning. This is why it’s crucial to be organised and plan cleaning and maintenance in advance, ensuring there’s a structured schedule for how and when tasks should be completed. This way you avoid losing control of the work load, and the standards of cleanliness in your facility can be maintained.

 

If you are a perfectionist cleaner in these circumstances, it can be incredibly frustrating, because you want everywhere to be spotless! But with the right plan in place and the right tool kit, you can keep everything under control.

To optimise your cleaning efforts, you must be able to cover all areas of space, even when you may have obstructions such as fixed furnishings. The thing about being a cleaner in a commercial environment is you will often have large industrial style machinery which is great for saving time & money, but not so great if you are trying to clean tight spaces. Fortunately, at Victor we have listened to those issues in the cleaning industry and produced a variety of solutions.

 

The SD12 Scrubber Dryer  | Not too big, not too small!

The SD12 Scrubber Dryer is the smallest of our Scrubber Dryer range, but you would be mistaken for thinking this machine is any less worthy, in this case small dimensions mean big benefits.  

This super compact design means you can easily maneuver through corridors, regular sized doorways & in small rooms, without missing an inch of floor space. On a single charge the user can cover up to 1600 m2, which is about the size of 6 standard tennis courts, which are roughly 260 square metres each, making it a great tool for floor cleaning in awkward spaces. 

Another way the SD12’s compact design is useful is when it comes to storage. You can easily store this machine in a cleaning cupboard, by folding the handle down, reducing the machine height and transforming the SD12 into a boxlike shape. This can be easily done by simply unscrewing a knob at the base of the handle. And you don’t have to worry about width either, as the SD12 is only 49 cm wide, this is also well below the average width of a door.  

Some people may think, if this machine is small, it must not be as powerful or clean as proficiently as larger machines, but because of the reduced weight and the fact it is powered by a single motor, it does not consume as much power to complete the task.

The Hyperglide | The smallest Scrubber Dryer known to man!

 

Going on to an even smaller Scrubber Dryer, we have the Hyperglide 350 Range, available in mains and cordless. This machine is the easiest machine of all time when it comes to Scrubber Dryers. If your floor needs a quick once over, this would be your go to!

The Hyperglide looks exactly like an upright vacuum, with the same simple functionality. Enabling versatile application, the Hyperglide can easily be used under furniture and around obstructions thanks to the flexible mobility of the handle, which can be pushed almost flat against the floor. Overall, providing an enhanced reach.

Oscillating machines | Intense edge-to-edge cleaning 

 

The Ocelot and Ocelot Plus are innovative oscillating floor cleaning machines designed to address the challenges of cleaning textured flooring, such as safety flooring with indentations. These indentations can trap dirt, compromising the floor’s non-slip properties and posing safety risks in environments like healthcare facilities and commercial kitchens.

 

Both the Ocelot 400 and Ocelot 400 Plus feature an oscillating base that moves side to side and forwards and backwards 3,000 times per minute, mimicking the manual scrubbing motion but at a much higher frequency. This ensures deep cleaning with minimal effort. The weighted rectangular base enhances the scrubbing action and allows the machines to reach every corner of a room, making edge-to-edge cleaning highly effective. It’s not normal to see cleaning machines with perfect right-angles, and without a machine like this, the user must revisit the edges of the floor before they have completed their cleaning.

 

The Ocelot machines can be used with three different cleaning pads, depending on the task in hand: the Contour Pad for tile and grout, the Melamine Pad for safety floors and hard floors with slight indentations, and the Microfiber Pad for daily cleaning. Regular/ Daily Cleaning

Public transport vehicles, such as trains and buses, receive regular cleaning, including wiping down armrests and vacuuming seats. 

Using an industrial-style vacuum, like the Victor Cordless Back Vacuum, is recommended for cleaning between seats and down aisles. A cordless solution enhances accessibility to tight spaces and allows for flexible movement. Additionally, a backpack vacuum offers excellent mobility and reduces strain on the user, improving overall efficiency. 

One specific benefit of using the Victor Back Vacuum is its high-comfort harness. While vacuuming is great for removing loose dirt and debris, achieving a deeper clean requires the use of moisture. This can be challenging due to the obstructions posed by seats, tables, and the typically narrow aisles of trains and buses. Although a mop can be useful in such environments, a scrubber dryer offers a quicker and more effective cleaning solution.

At Victor we learnt that many manufacturers create large machines for large spaces but reaching those smaller confined areas is as important to achieve a completely clean environment. The Victor Hyperglideis our favourite solution for this, the same look and size as an upright vacuum, but in the form of a scrubber dryer.

For those hard-to-reach areas, the Victor Mini Scrubber can be used to clean underneath and around seating, in any tight space. Completely versatile, the Mini Scrubber features adjustable handles, handheld functionality, and interchangeable cleaning heads. There’s also an extendable long reach handle, this is great if you’re not able to get close to the area you’re cleaning. Or so users won’t have to bend down to clean low level areas.

Periodic Deep-Clean

When it comes to period cleaning of seating, we recommend using a steam cleaner, this will penetrate the fabric, effectively removing germs, stains, and bacteria. Another benefit of using a steam cleaner is that it does not involve any harsh chemicals which contributes to sustainability efforts.
Victor provides two variants of commercial steam cleaners, the SL8000 and the Steam Extractor.
The SL8000 combine HEPA vacuumation with steam to remove dirt and water, leaving surfaces clean, dry, and sanitised. Keeping your seats dry is important, especially if they can’t air dry naturally. Any leftover moisture could lead to mould, leaving the seats in a worse condition than prior to cleaning. The use of the HEPA filter helps to remove any dust, pollen, mould and bacteria particles from the air, which reduces the risk of viral infection.
For a slightly more powerful steamer, Victor supplies the Steam Extractor. Although this does not include vacuumation, it does have a slightly higher temperature of steam.

Transport Hubs | Train Stations & Bus Stations

Transport infrastructure in the UK often lacks essential maintenance and repairs. Public funding is limited, and like other sectors such as healthcare and highway maintenance, there isn’t always enough money to cover all needs. This can lead to various issues and deteriorating conditions. Even with £36 billion reallocated from HS2 into various transport projects, funding remains insufficient.

Aging infrastructure, poor drainage systems, and severe weather at train and bus stations can sometimes result in leaks. And limited funding can delay those essential repairs. And it’s getting to that time of year where we’ll unfortunately but definitely see rain.

For a short-term solution, Victor has produced the innovative SlipStop®. The SlipStop® range features a wide funnel leak collector that efficiently gathers water from leaks while also serving as a high-visibility wet floor sign, minimising slip hazards.

Given the pressures of ensuring health and safety, the SlipStop® is an excellent temporary fix. Using a bucket to catch leaks can be a tripping hazard, especially in high-traffic areas during peak times. A bucket might not be visible and could result in a passenger or employee sustaining an injury.

Flooring in High-Traffic Areas

Train stations and airports experience exceptionally high levels of foot traffic, especially during peak times when passengers are commuting to and from work or school. This means floors are exposed to a variety of contaminants, including food, drink spills, oil, and litter. Cleaners must ensure these high-traffic areas receive extra attention and remain free of significant obstructions. Maintaining slip resistance is also crucial to ensure passenger safety.
Littering, particularly with chewing gum, is an ongoing issue, costing the UK government £7 million per year to clean streets and public spaces. Besides being unsightly, chewing gum is also a nuisance to clean. We recommend using a steam cleaner combined with a flat-edged scraping attachment. The Victor SL8000 is an excellent solution, as it comes with a full range of attachments for scraping the floor. Additionally, the SL8000 includes HEPA vacuumation, ensuring the flooring is left completely dry. The steam from the machine helps to soften the gum, breaking down the adhesive properties, making it easier to lift from the floor surface.

 

For general cleaning, an industrial scrubber dryer is recommended for floor maintenance. Manual methods, such as mopping, are often ineffective, leaving water behind, restricting the user, and wasting time and energy. In high-traffic areas, it’s almost unavoidable to have people walking across the floor during cleaning and leaving the floor wet is a hazard to passengers but also can make the floor dirtier, because people will then tread the dirt from their shoes onto the wet floor.

Sustainability has become a key objective for many organisations, including those in the transport sector. Increasingly, there is pressure to adopt sustainable practices due to the significant impact of customer demand. Sustainability in cleaning can be introduced with a variety of practices. Northern Rail has been working to reduce their single-use plastics by installing cleaning solution fill stations across their network, cutting down the number of bottles used by 9,000 annually. In 2023. In terms of their cleaning solution, they also introduced ‘Clean Zero’—a chemical-free cleaner created by re-engineering water through a seven-stage filtration process. This solution is now used across their fleet of 345 trains.
Stopping or reducing the use of chemicals in cleaning is becoming a popular method for implementing sustainable practices. And one of the reasons why Victor introduced the Oscillating machines to the product range. Ocelot & Ocelot Plus Comparison | Comparing the differences between Oscillating machines. 

 

Understanding the Challenge 

In the scrubber dryer market, we recognised a significant gap: there wasn’t a machine that could effectively and cost-efficiently provide a deep clean, specifically concerning textured flooring, where there’s indentations. For example, a common flooring type ‘safety flooring’ often has a textured surface for the purpose of slip- resistance.

However, this can be problematic if the flooring eventually builds dirt between these indentations, creating a smoother surface, which is then difficult to clean & compromises the non-slip properties. This now poses a safety concern, which can be detrimental to healthcare facilities, commercial kitchens, industrial factories and so much more.

At Victor, we came up with innovative Oscillating machines, designed to tackle this challenge, head on. Introducing the Oscillating floor cleaning machines, designed to penetrate those indented areas & remove dirt, flawlessly.

 

We came up with two variations of the Oscillating machine, the Ocelot 400 & the Ocelot 400 plus. These machines are nearly identical, apart from a few significant differences.

Firstly, let’s look at how these machines are the same. 

 

Oscillation: 

The most notable similarity between the Ocelot 400 and Ocelot 400 Plus is their oscillating properties. Unlike traditional scrubber dryers that use rotational or cylindrical cleaning actions, the Ocelot machines feature an oscillating base. These bases moves side to side and forwards and backwards 3,000 times per minute, providing a deep clean with a very small oscillation size. This action mimics the manual scrubbing motion you would use to remove a stain from a table, ensuring thorough cleaning. 

To manually scrub the floor to the same standard, you would need to replicate this motion at the same frequency to achieve a similar level of cleaning. However, manual scrubbing typically involves much slower and less consistent movements. For example, a person might scrub at a rate of around 100-200 strokes per minute, which is significantly less than the 3,000 oscillations per minute of the machine. 

For textured flooring, people often use a microfiber mop with agitation strips to scrub the cleaning solution into the indentations. This helps lift dirt and grime from the textured surface. Although this may be effective, manual scrubbing takes considerably longer and applying the necessary level of pressure can be exhausting and potentially harmful to the user’s physical health.  

Due to the intensity of the oscillating machines, you only need to apply the machine once to an area to achieve perfect cleaning results. 

The Weighted Rectangular Base: 

Enhancing the performance of the oscillation further, the Ocelot machines feature a weighted base, which means the machine applies more consistent and effective pressure to the floor. This enhances the scrubbing action and ensures a deeper clean with less effort from the user. Another unique attribute is the rectangular shape. It’s almost guaranteed that the room you’re cleaning is square or rectangular, and with most machines, it can be impossible to reach the edges and corners of a floor. The Ocelot machines can reach every corner perfectly. 

 

Cleaning pads:

The Ocelot’s come with three different pads to cater to various cleaning needs:  

  • Contour Pad: Made from an astroturf-like material, this pad is perfect for tile and grout cleaning. It effectively gets into grout lines, removing dirt and foot marks.  

  

  • Melamine Pad: Essentially a large magic sponge, this pad is intertwined with other materials to enhance durability. It’s ideal for safety floors and hard floors with slight indentations, providing a gentle yet thorough clean.  

  

  • Microfiber Pad: This pad is designed for daily cleaning. It requires less water and is perfect for maintaining cleanliness without over-wetting the floor. 

 

Easy-to-remove tanks:  

The Ocelot machine comes with a removable tank, making it easy to empty and refill without long trips to fill up and fix to the machine, which would be awkward with the weight of the water. This feature saves time and effort, increasing overall efficiency. The clean water tank can be filled with any chemical or just water, thanks to the deep cleaning action. 

 

What are the key differences? 

 

Vacuumation of water:  

The most significant difference between the Ocelot machines is the vacuumation feature, which is exclusive to the Ocelot 400 Plus. This feature is designed to pick up water and deposit it into the recovery tank. This capability allows users to apply more water to the floor during cleaning.

The standard Ocelot 400 was initially designed as a low-moisture machine. Thanks to its oscillation performance, minimal water is needed to achieve excellent cleaning results. In fact, you don’t even need to use any cleaning chemicals—it’s that effective. However, with the Ocelot 400 Plus, you now have the option to use more water if desired & it provides an additional assurance that the floor will be kept completely dry after cleaning.

 

 

Recovery Tank for dirty water: 

As mentioned, when the water is vacuumed, it’s then deposited into the recovery tank. The large red box like feature provides the most visible difference to the machine. And you may find the movement of the machine differs sightly due to the weight.  

 

User functionality:  

Operating both oscillating machines is straightforward, as they are designed to be user-friendly, minimising the need for extensive training and accommodating users with diverse abilities. They feature a simple on/off switch, with the only difference being the additional vacuumation switch on the Ocelot 400 Plus. Users can also increase the amount of water that they choose to release, if they’re using the Ocelot 400 Plus.  

 

Battery life:  

Both Oscillating machines are powered by a lithium-ion battery, which can be charged overnight without the risk of overcharging. This intelligent battery extends the machine’s operational life, reducing the need for frequent replacements. Once your machine battery runs out, it’s easy to switch to a fully charged battery and you’re ready to go again.

The only difference when it comes to battery is the amount of power consumed. This brush excels in working into all the nooks and crannies, making it ideal for oily machine shop floors as it cuts through grease efficiently. Made of polypropylene fibre, it is the most course of the two brushes, providing robust cleaning power for tough surfaces.

How to fit a solution tank on a Rotary Machine | Choosing your solution tank

At Victor Floorcare, we offer two sizes of solution tanks to cater to different cleaning needs. (Tanks must be purchased separately to your machine) : 

 

  • 7-litre tank: Ideal for smaller tasks.
  • 15-litre tank: Perfect for larger areas or more extensive cleaning tasks. 
  • Both tanks are designed to fit onto the machines in the same way, ensuring ease of use and flexibility.

Fitting the solution tank

Here is step-by-step guide to fitting the solution tank onto your Victor floorcare machine:

  • Identify the Bracket Section: Locate the bracket section on the front of the handle. This is where the two nuts on the back of the tank will fit.

  • Attach the Tank: Place the tank onto the brackets and tighten the nuts to secure it in place.

  • Connect the Lever: The lever on the tank controls the amount of water applied to the floor. Ensure the feed tube is connected, directing the solution to the centre of the pad or brush.

Filling your tank

 

You can fill the tank in two ways:

  • Fill In Place: Leave the tank attached to the machine and fill it using a hose. If you choose to fill in place and you haven’t already mixed your cleaning chemical. Make sure you put your chemical in the tank after the water, if you do the reverse you’ll find your tank fills with bubbles, reducing the space for your water.

 

  • Detach and Fill: Remove the tank and fill it at a sink. You may find this easier as you are less likely to spill any water onto the floor, and it is easier to mix your cleaning chemical first before putting it into the tank.

 

Adjusting your tank chain

Different models of Victor machines have varying handlebar lengths. Therefore, it’s crucial to ensure the chain controlling the water release is correctly positioned:

  • Check the Split Ring: Ensure the split ring on top of the chain fits over the lever section. 
  • Adjust if Necessary: If the chain is not in the correct position, adjust the split ring to a different link.

Final Steps

 

  • Reattach the Tank: Once the chain is correctly positioned, reattach the tank to the brackets.
  • Shut Off Valve: Ensure the shut-off valve at the bottom of the tank is in the correct position to prevent accidental water release.
  • Connect the Feed Line: Attach the feed line to the centre base of the machine.

 

Operating the Machine

 

 

Now you’re ready to go! When cleaning, lower the handle to the operating position and use the handle lever on the left side to control the water flow.

Scrubber Dryer 5 Easy Maintenance Steps | Maintaining your Scrubber Dryer is essential to ensure longevity, optimal performance & functionality. Obtaining a regular service from a professional is advised, this may be using your machines manufacturer or a qualified service & repair specialist.
But there are some simple maintenance actions which the user can perform to keep the Scrubber Dryer machine working to a high standard in-between servicing.
Here is a guide to extend your machine’s lifespan in a few simple steps. We have based our guide on the Victor Scrubber Dryer range, but these points can also be applied to a variety of Scrubber Dryers. So, let us get started!

 

1. Start by emptying the dirty water tank, this is where the used water machine sits after being sucked in

Locate the Dump Hose

  • The dump hose is typically at the machine’s rear, near the bottom. Look for a hose attached to a bracket.

Remove and Empty

  • Take the hose off the bracket.
  • Open the stopper at the hose end to empty the dirty water tank completely. Make sure the hose is situated over a bucket or area of disposal. You’ll want to avoid spilling dirty water on your freshly cleaned floor!

Clean the Tank

  • Empty the water from the machine, located on the underside of the machine. After emptying, clean the inside of the tank thoroughly.
  • Remove any debris or residue to prevent clogs.

2. Clean the Air Filter

Access the Air Filter

• The air filter is usually located near the tank.
• Find it and remove it for cleaning.

Rinse Under Tap

• Rinse the filter under a tap to remove dirt and dust.
• Ensure it is free from any blockages.

Reattach Securely

• Reattach the filter securely to maintain proper airflow.

 

It’s important to ensure you clean the air filter, as this ensures optimal airflow, preventing clogs and maintaining the machines performance.

3. Empty the Clean Water Tank

 

Press and Hold (may vary depending on your machine)

  • Press and hold the water control button.
  • Wait for the flashing lights, indicating that the water release solenoid valve is active.

Dispose of Water

  • Empty the clean water tank at your designated disposal point. This is located at the underside of the machine; the location will vary depending on the machine.
  • Even though the water is clean, it’s important to keep empty. Regularly emptying the tank prevents stagnant water from accumulating, reducing the risk of bacterial growth and unpleasant odours.

  • Check the splash foam in the reservoir for the clean water tank is free from any debris. Regularly cleaning the splash foam ensures optimal cleaning results and prevents build-up that could affect the machines functionality.

4. Brush Maintenance

Tilt the Machine

• Tilt the machine back to access the brushes.

Inspect Brushes

• To release the brushes on a Victor machine, you should squeeze and twist the brushes.
• Ensure there are no small stones or debris stuck between the brushes.
• Clear any obstructions to maintain smooth movement.
• Cleaning the brushes on your Scrubber Dryer is essential for maintaining effective cleaning performance and prolonging the machine’s lifespan and the brushes will last longer. Worn or dirty brushes may leave streaks or miss spots.

Reattach Brushes

• Align the centre of the brush with the pulley underneath to reattach them securely. They should fit securely in a one-click motion.

5. Squeegee Care

 

Slide Squeegee

  • Slide the squeegee across to one side.• Release the wing nut and repeat on the other side.
  • Clean the suction bar thoroughly.
  • Pay attention to the edges of the squeegee blade, removing any build-up.
  • Rotate Blade
  • When the squeegee blade wears down on one side, rotate it to a fresh side, make sure you do this before you purchase a new one.
  • Ensuring the Squeegee blade is kept fresh with maintain effective water pickup.

You should always start by removing any loose dirt and debris. Loose dirt can act as sandpaper, causing scratches and marks which damage the surface of the floor. To optimise the vacuuming process, you should think about using an industrial vacuum. Commercial vacuums have much more powerful suction and capacity, allowing you to vacuum in half the time compared to using a domestic vacuum.

Step 2: Floor Scrubbing

 

After vacuuming, the next step is to clean the floor with an industrial Scrubber Dryer. Much like a commercial vacuum, a Scrubber Dryer is capable of cleaning a significantly larger area in a shorter amount of time than a traditional mop can manage.

The advantage of using a Scrubber Dryer extends beyond efficiency. Also ensuring that minimal water is left on the floor’s surface. This feature is particularly crucial for timber sports hall floors, where excessive moisture is a concern. Mopping can introduce too much water into the wood, compromising the sealant and leading to potential swelling, shrinking, and subsequent warping or discoloration as the wood dries. By effectively removing water after scrubbing, Scrubber Dryers mitigate this risk, ensuring longevity and preserving the appearance of your flooring.

It’s still vital that whichever chemical you choose will efficiently sanitise. Bodily fluids such as sweat, contain high levels of protein and salt which builds up and forms a residue which cannot be penetrated by water alone.

When selecting cleaning agents for sports hall floors, including those made of polyurethane, vinyl, and timber, it’s essential to opt for a gentle, pH-neutral detergent mixed with water. Harsh chemicals like ammonia and vinegar should be avoided; despite their strong cleaning power, they are highly abrasive and can accelerate the wear and tear of the flooring. Your best option is to purchase a floor cleaning solution specifically made for your floor material. For absolute clarity, you could check with your floor manufacturer.

Step 3: Sanding

When it comes to maintaining timber floors, the complexity increases significantly. For those looking to breathe new life into their sports hall, sanding and polishing are essential steps for a comprehensive rejuvenation. Sanding is a process whereby the wooden floor is completely stripped of any old lacquers and paint, taking the floor back to the original timber.

Given the expansive area of a sports hall, industrial-grade machinery is the most efficient choice for sanding. As we mentioned previously, this is much more complex, and you should consider hiring someone experienced or acquire some foundational level training. If you attempt to use a sander without any experience, you could end up damaging the floor. Once you’ve completed the sanding process, you should vacuum the area thoroughly to remove all traces of sawdust and debris. Finally, you should apply a sealant or varnish to protect the timber and enhance the appearance.

Step 4: Buffing and Polishing

Now you can move on to the final stage of refurbishing your sports hall floor, using a Rotary Machine. This is the most effective way to achieve a smooth and shiny finish.

A Rotary Machine paired with a buffing pad will smooth out any imperfections & provide further protection to the floor. There are a variety of different pads, which can provide a different finish so it’s important to explore different variants to see what would work best for you. For polishing floors you typically want to use a white pad, which is less abrasive and ideal for polishing without causing damage.

If you do choose to polish your floor using a Rotary Machine, it’s important to be aware that you’ll require basic training to operate the machine safely and effectively. Now you’ve finished using your Rotary Machine, you should carefully inspect the hall and if you can see any marks or scuffs, use a microfiber cloth to gently rub the areas in a circular motion. Also, you may not have reached the edges of the hall using the Rotary Machine so you could consider polishing with a smaller hand-held buffer or edge machine.

If you’ve ever had a vacuum cleaner with a retractable cable you’ll know how problematic that can be. They get jammed very easily, and once broken the cable becomes very difficult to store.

The V9’s 5 castor design allows the V9 to spin 360, creating its own unique, zero maintenance cable winder. Simply remove the hose and spin the V9 on its 5 castors whilst guiding the cable around the specifically moulded motor cover. When fully wound, simply clip the plug into the handle.

12. Quick Change Cable

It happens, with continuous use power cables can get damaged. Usually, tub vacuums would have to be sent off to a specialist for repair. To ensure minimal equipment downtime, the V9 features a plug and play power cable which can be replaced in seconds. Similar to a kettle lead the power cord pops out for replacement.
