Scrubber Dryer 5 Easy Maintenance Steps | Maintaining your Scrubber Dryer is essential to ensure longevity, optimal performance & functionality. Obtaining a regular service from a professional is advised, this may be using your machines manufacturer or a qualified service & repair specialist.
But there are some simple maintenance actions which the user can perform to keep the Scrubber Dryer machine working to a high standard in-between servicing.
Here is a guide to extend your machine’s lifespan in a few simple steps. We have based our guide on the Victor Scrubber Dryer range, but these points can also be applied to a variety of Scrubber Dryers. So, let us get started!

 

1. Start by emptying the dirty water tank, this is where the used water machine sits after being sucked in

Locate the Dump Hose

  • The dump hose is typically at the machine’s rear, near the bottom. Look for a hose attached to a bracket.

Remove and Empty

  • Take the hose off the bracket.
  • Open the stopper at the hose end to empty the dirty water tank completely. Make sure the hose is situated over a bucket or area of disposal. You’ll want to avoid spilling dirty water on your freshly cleaned floor!

Clean the Tank

  • Empty the water from the machine, located on the underside of the machine. After emptying, clean the inside of the tank thoroughly.
  • Remove any debris or residue to prevent clogs.

2. Clean the Air Filter

Access the Air Filter

• The air filter is usually located near the tank.
• Find it and remove it for cleaning.

Rinse Under Tap

• Rinse the filter under a tap to remove dirt and dust.
• Ensure it is free from any blockages.

Reattach Securely

• Reattach the filter securely to maintain proper airflow.

 

It’s important to ensure you clean the air filter, as this ensures optimal airflow, preventing clogs and maintaining the machines performance.

3. Empty the Clean Water Tank

 

Press and Hold (may vary depending on your machine)

  • Press and hold the water control button.
  • Wait for the flashing lights, indicating that the water release solenoid valve is active.

Dispose of Water

  • Empty the clean water tank at your designated disposal point. This is located at the underside of the machine; the location will vary depending on the machine.
  • Even though the water is clean, it’s important to keep empty. Regularly emptying the tank prevents stagnant water from accumulating, reducing the risk of bacterial growth and unpleasant odours.

 

Splash Foam

  • Check the splash foam in the reservoir for the clean water tank is free from any debris. Regularly cleaning the splash foam ensures optimal cleaning results and prevents build-up that could affect the machines functionality.

4. Brush Maintenance

Tilt the Machine

• Tilt the machine back to access the brushes.

Inspect Brushes

• To release the brushes on a Victor machine, you should squeeze and twist the brushes.
• Ensure there are no small stones or debris stuck between the brushes.
• Clear any obstructions to maintain smooth movement.
• Cleaning the brushes on your Scrubber Dryer is essential for maintaining effective cleaning performance and prolonging the machine’s lifespan and the brushes will last longer. Worn or dirty brushes may leave streaks or miss spots.

Reattach Brushes

• Align the centre of the brush with the pulley underneath to reattach them securely. They should fit securely in a one-click motion.

5. Squeegee Care

 

Slide Squeegee

  • Slide the squeegee across to one side.• Release the wing nut and repeat on the other side.
  • Clean the suction bar thoroughly.
  • Pay attention to the edges of the squeegee blade, removing any build-up.
  • Rotate Blade
  • When the squeegee blade wears down on one side, rotate it to a fresh side, make sure you do this before you purchase a new one.
  • Ensuring the Squeegee blade is kept fresh with maintain effective water pickup.

Summer breaks offer the perfect chance for deep cleaning and maintenance. The tasks may range from full overhauls to simple upkeep. With a 6-week window, there’s ample time for thorough work, including broader school maintenance.

You should always start by removing any loose dirt and debris. Loose dirt can act as sandpaper, causing scratches and marks which damage the surface of the floor. To optimise the vacuuming process, you should think about using an industrial vacuum. Commercial vacuums have much more powerful suction and capacity, allowing you to vacuum in half the time compared to using a domestic vacuum.

After vacuuming, the next step is to clean the floor with an industrial Scrubber Dryer. Much like a commercial vacuum, a Scrubber Dryer is capable of cleaning a significantly larger area in a shorter amount of time than a traditional mop can manage.

As we mentioned previously, this is much more complex, and you should consider hiring someone experienced or acquire some foundational level training. If you attempt to use a sander without any experience, you could end up damaging the floor. Once you’ve completed the sanding process, you should vacuum the area thoroughly to remove all traces of sawdust and debris. Finally, you should apply a sealant or varnish to protect the timber and enhance the appearance.

Step 4: Buffing and Polishing

Now you can move on to the final stage of refurbishing your sports hall floor, using a Rotary Machine. This is the most effective way to achieve a smooth and shiny finish.

There are a variety of different pads, which can provide a different finish so it’s important to explore different variants to see what would work best for you. If you do choose to polish your floor using a Rotary Machine, it’s important to be aware that you’ll require basic training to operate the machine safely and effectively. Remember, while it’s possible to undertake this task yourself, hiring a professional can ensure the job is done efficiently and to a high standard, especially if you’re not confident in operating the machinery.

Now you’ve finished using your Rotary Machine, you should carefully inspect the hall and if you can see any marks or scuffs, use a microfiber cloth to gently rub the areas in a circular motion. Also, you may not have reached the edges of the hall using the Rotary Machine so you could consider polishing with a smaller hand-held buffer or edge machine.

Filthy Football League: The “Dirtiest” Clubs In The UK Revealed

THE “DIRTIEST” FOOTBALL STADIUMS IN THE UK REVEALED

 

From the iconic Anfield to London’s renowned Wembley Stadium, these celebrated sporting venues are more than just locations; they are hallowed grounds where dreams are realised and legends are born.

Here at Victor Floorcare, we have analysed the data to find out which of the most well-known stadiums in the UK are the cleanest and which may benefit from a once-over with an oscillating floor cleaner or a cordless rotary machine.

The research is based on a selection of negative keywords around cleanliness in reviews left by visitors as well as hygiene ratings from The Food Standards Agency. Using this data, we have created an index which ranks the stadiums from ‘most pristine’ to ‘needs a clean’, with surprising results that include some of the country’s most popular stadiums.

Crystal Palace’s Selhurst Park stadium has topped the ranks as the alleged dirtiest stadium with a score of 30.97 out of 40. The 25,400 capacity stadium ranked the highest for reviews containing negative keywords including ‘dirty’, ‘filthy’, ‘unhygienic’ and ‘disgusting’ – with many disappointed visitors commenting on the toilet facilities and the overall cleanliness of the stadium.

Selhurst Park also had an average score of three for food hygiene, meaning that there is also room for improvement when it comes to the cleanliness of its catering facilities.

Coming in second for the title of ‘dirtiest stadium’ is Luton Town’s Kenilworth Road stadium. Officially opened in 1905, the stadium was originally constructed with earth banking and wooden terraces where spectators could sit. Whilst the stadium has come a long way since then, its cleanliness still leaves much to be desired according to visitors and, since getting promoted last year, its even more important that the stadium is spick and span.

Burnley’s Turf Moor, Wembley and Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium also made the top five for ‘dirtiest stadiums’.

Liverpool’s Anfield stadium took the crown for being the most pristine stadium on the list. Anfield has a seating capacity of over 60,000 and its state-of-the-art facilities have led to it being dubbed as the most iconic football stadium in the UK. The bars and restaurants at Anfield have an average food hygiene rating of five – the highest you can score.

Coming in second cleanest is Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium which had very few negative reviews around cleanliness and had a food hygiene rating of five across all of its vendors.

Edward Blackledge, managing director at Victor Floorcare, commented on the findings, saying: “In places like football stadiums that have thousands of visitors every weekend, cleanliness levels can sometimes slip if the right processes aren’t adhered to.

“A clean stadium can help to enhance the overall fan experience for those visiting the stadium. Clean facilities, including toilets and concession areas, contribute to a positive atmosphere for everyone – whether they’re season ticket holders or just visiting for the day!

“Areas within the stadium that have a particularly high footfall like bars and toilets would benefit from an industrial floor cleaner to really make sure that the dirt and grime is being removed and the area is being left spotless and sanitary ready for the next match. Methodology

 Our team analysed reviews on Google Maps and TripAdvisor for the top 23 biggest stadiums in the UK to see has the most reviews containing negative keywords including ‘filthy’, ‘disgusting’, ‘gross’, ‘dirty’, ‘vile’, ‘unhygienic’ and ‘smelly’.  From this, we worked out a percentage of negative reviews that included these words.  We also looked at the food hygiene rating on The Food Standards Agency for each bar or restaurant that is listed at the address of the associated football club.

Unboxing Your New Victor Rotary Machine

 

Unboxing Your New Victor Rotary Machine | Congratulations on receiving your new Victor rotary machine. To ensure that it is unpacked safely and sustainably, please follow these steps:

​

1. The box should be delivered in an upright position, strapped to the pallet, in a tall box. If the box looks like it has been stored on it’s side or had anything stored onto of it, please check the contents before accepting delivery. ​

2. Using 2 people, lift the box from the pallet and onto the floor, but keep upright at this point. Depending on which machine you have ordered, the box could weigh up to 45kg. This is a 2 person lift, and moving this box should only be attempted by a minimum of 2 people. ​

3. Once the box is on the floor, tilt the box towards you until it is laid lengthways on the floor. There are arrows on the edge of the box to indicate which way up the box should be when opening. Do not open the box if the arrows are upside-down, this could damage the machine and will be very difficult to get out of the box. ​

4. Open the edge of the box. The Machine handle should be facing you and the right way up.

5. Pull the handle and wheel the machine out of the box fully using the machines transport wheels. ​

5. Pull the trigger on the handle to reset the handle to the upright position.

Choosing the Perfect Rotary Machine

Picture the speed of rotary machines as a spectrum, with a low-speed zone at one end and a high-speed zone at the other. This spectrum represents how the different speeds of machines are more suitable a for different tasks.

 

Choosing the Perfect Rotary Machine Speed for Your Floorcare Needs | TLDR: Generally speaking:

Slower speeds are ideal for deep scrubbing tasks, particularly if you want to add weights for deep scrubbing. – Never use a scrubbing brush on higher speed machines as this could damage the floor, the machine or both.
Higher speeds are are ideal for polishing tasks. Use a white or red floor pad only on higher machines and use only for floor polishing.

 

Choosing the Perfect Rotary Machine | Low-Speed Rotary Machines (180 RPM)

At the lower end of the spectrum, we have machines like the Victor Trojan 17, operating at a modest 180 RPM (Revolutions Per Minute). These machines are the workhorses of specialist cleaning tasks. If you have delicate surfaces like stone that require careful restoration, these low-speed machines are your go-to option. They provide the precision and control needed for such tasks.

Standard Speed Rotary Machines (230 RPM)
